| What to expect: Family-friendly, centrally located, and moderately priced, the hotel attracts guests on a budget who nonetheless wish to vacation next to the sea. Amenity highlights: The white-sand beach in front of the hotel is long but shallow, offering no room for sunbathing except for a short, terraced stretch containing two dozen lounge chairs and five thatch-roof palapas. But the hotel's 150-yard pool terrace above the beach includes plenty of room and lots of padded lounge chairs. A lagoon-style, free-form pool runs 75 yards along the terrace, with a swim-up bar at one end and a 15-foot-diameter jet spa at the other. Behind the terrace are a grassy children's play area and a palapa shading four hammocks. Another palapa offers open-air massages. Insider tip: When winds blow up waves on the open-sea side of Punta Canc?n, a short walk over to the bay side will lead guests to a sheltered beach fronted by calm water.
